Visa Issuance
Eligible applicants or activities allowed
This E-1 visa is for a person who meets the qualifications stated in the 「Higher Education Act」, and plans to engage in education or research·guidance of the professional field at educational institutions of higher than the college level or any of the equivalents
If you are hired as a professor, an associate professor, an assistant professor, or a visiting professor, you are eligible to apply for this visa.
Required Documents
- Visa application form
- Passport
- A photo in a standard format (size: 3.5×4.5, white bg)
- Application fee
- A certificate of employment history or Degree
- Employment Contract or Confirmation on the appointment as a professor
Note: the embassy may request for additional documents depending on the condition of the country if it’s deemed necessary for visa evaluation.

This E-3 visa is for a person who plans to engage in research and development of advanced industrial technology or natural science field at research laboratories upon invitation by a Korean public/private institute. *a person who falls under the E-1 professor status is excluded.
If you are hired as a researcher by UNIST, you are eligible to apply for this visa.
Required Documents
- Visa application form
- Passport
- A photo in a standard format (size: 3.5×4.5, white bg)
- Application fee
- Degree or documents proving your professional experiences
- Employment Contract
- Documents in regards to the establishment of an inviting institution
